Emergency After Hours Contact 705-223-3613
The Town of Mattawa now has a means for its taxpayers to contact a team member after hours and on weekends in the case of an emergency pertaining to sewer, water, roads and sidewalks.
The Mattawa Public Works Department operates out of the Public Works Facilities located at 1256 Mill Street in Mattawa. You can find us at the west end of town 1 block in from Hwy 17 accessing our offices by West Street or Lake Street.
Our team of 8 people that take care of all Public Works physical and administrative activities. These include operating the Mattawa Water Works, operating our sanitary sewage collection and our modern aerated sewage treatment plant, culvert thawing in the spring, street lighting, managing the landfill site, garbage and recycling collection programs, tree maintenance and brushing, sidewalk maintenance, storm and drainage system maintenance, street and sidewalk sweeping.
During the winter, our team takes care of plowing and sanding the streets, sanding and salting sidewalks. Usually we are able to get our streets cleaned up after a storm in the first 5 – 6 hours of our work day. This is considered to be an excellent service time for an urban environment.
