Welcome to the Mayor & Council Page

This area provides you with information on the Members of Council, Committees of Council and their meetings.

COUNCIL
Council is the legislated governing body for the municipal corporation that approves policies, institutes By-Laws and authorizes the raising of revenue and the necessary expenditures to provide municipal services. Council deals with the business of the Corporation through recommendations of its Committees.

COUNCIL MEETINGS
Council holds regular meetings every 2nd and 4th Monday of each month at 7 pm sharp at the Town Hall in the Dr. S. F. Monestime Council Chambers. On occasion, Council will hold special meetings outside this regular schedule to address pressing or urgent matters. All Council and Committee meetings are public and you are welcome to attend.

For each meeting an agenda is prepared and during the following week a set of minutes of those meetings are prepared. You can keep up to date with current items under Council’s consideration and the decisions made by accessing the Council Agendas & Minutes page for the current and past years on this website.

We invite you to visit our Council Members section of the website and learn who your current representatives are.

Career: Information Technologist

When I Came To Mattawa: Born in North Bay, raised all over Ontario.  Spent most of my childhood living in Deux Rivieres and going to school in Mattawa.  Went to Canadore College and lived in North Bay for 2 years.  Returned home to Mattawa to start my family and build my future.

About Myself: I am a father of 2 children, Kyra & Colton, husband to my wife Meagan.  I have grown up in the area and grown to love, the not only beautiful land, but the givingness of the people of Mattawa.  I work in Technology and I love change and how it can be embraced in all facets of life to create efficiencies and make life more manageable.  I love to play and watch most sports and have a passion for home renovations.

Committee/Department Chair: Recreation & Tourism, John Dixon Public Board, Food Bank Board, School Advisory Council for FJ McElligott Secondary School

Goals/Ideas: My goal as a new Councillor is simple.  Build Mattawa’s Future.  Sustainable, manageable, efficient, and proficient are all words that I would like our community to live by.  In order for our local economy to work, we must work for our local economy.  Small business must be successful and the people of Mattawa have to love our town not only for the beauty but for the quality of life experience we can offer.
